Justin A. McAdams is currently in his third year at Phoenixville Area High School, and fourteenth year of music education overall. Originally from New Jersey, Mr. McAdams holds a Bachelor of Music in music education from the University of Delaware and a Masters of Music in Wind Band Conducting from West Chester University. In both collegiate experiences, he had the opportunity to lead and conduct some of the finest college bands in the northeastern US.
Prior to coming to Phoenixville HS, he was the band director at Daniel Boone in High School (Berks County, PA). In the ten years that he was there, the program became the premiere marching program in the county and captured the 2005 and 2009 Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championships.
Mr. McAdams’ interests in the band world span all genres and disciplines. In addition to being on the podium here at PAHS, he is also one of the lead clinicians for the George N. Parks Drum Major Academy, a student leadership workshop presented annually to thousands of high school students nationwide.
Justin is also an avid program and show designer for many marching programs in the region. He has consulted and written for numerous programs (including Phoenixville!) and is currently the visual designer for Aftermath Indoor Percussion, the Bushwackers of Princeton, NJ, and the Fightin’ Blue Hen Marching Band of the University of Delaware.
Justin is also a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, NAfME, PMEA, and the National Band Association. He has also been nominated for the Citadel Heart of Learning Award and the inaugural PASD Impact Award.
When not involved with a band, Justin can be found at home with his wife Sarah and their two cats. If he is not there, then you can usually find him taking divots out of a golf course or riding up and down the Schuylkill River Trail on his bike.
